The Brazilian team had little difficulty dispatching of Jake "Stewie2K" Yip's side in a two-map series. GODSENT have claimed victory in the first quarter-final match of the North American BLAST Premier Spring Showdown, dispatching of Evil Geniuses in a relatively lopsided two-map series to advance to the semi-final where they now await the winner of FURIA versus ATK. The defeat continues a downward spiral for EG, who recently failed to qualify for PGL Major Antwerp and IEM Dallas. The Stewie2K-led side have floundered since the formation of the roster at the start of the year, winning just 16 of the 44 maps they have played as well as only claiming victory in four out of 15 best-of-three series. The Showdown bout marked a rematch of the recently-concluded IEM Dallas lower bracket final, where GODSENT had also secured victory in two maps, winning both Overpass and Vertigo. To kick off the series, Evil Geniuses once again selected Overpass, but the map failed to go in the favor of the North Americans yet again. An early forcebuy victory into a 3-1 lead gave Stewie2K and company a sold start to their T side, but they were quickly left trailing as GODSENT stepped up with a firm defense, an inspired performance from Eduardo "dumau" Wolkmer helping his team claim a 9-6 lead at the break. A pistol victory after the side swap put Evil Geniuses in position to even the score, but a swift forcebuy reply from the Brazilians immediately turned the tides. From there, it was a battering as GODSENT conceded just one additional round en route to a 16-8 finish, dumau ending the map with a 28-12 K-D and 1.93 rating. Taking a different route from their previous matchup, GODSENT threw in a surprise by picking Mirage — a map they held an 0-4 record on heading into the matchup. The change up proved to bear fruit for Epitacio "TACO" de Melo's men as, after starting the map down 0-3, they won eight rounds in a row on the T side, with Evil Geniuses managing to redeem themselves slightly toward the end of the half by pushing up to seven rounds. Much like on Overpass, a pistol win in the second half gave Evil Geniuses the chance to control the map and get into a winning position, but just a few rounds later that opportunity was squandered as GODSENT put up a stalwart defense, wasting little time in closing out the map 16-11.GODSENT
